Amity Hospice volunteers are dynamic individuals with a passion for assisting families and patients along their medical journey. At Amity Hospice, we understand that choosing the right person to help care for your loved one is a great responsibility.
As volunteers, our purpose is to provide patients with the individualized care they need. Our volunteers provide a variety of care and services to hospice and palliative care patients, which include but are not limited too:
-
Offering companionship to patients, caregivers, and families
-
Providing support to patients & families
-
Assisting in light housekeeping
-
Accomodating time to relieve primary caregiver
-
Running errands and making deliveries
Volunteers are members of the interdisciplinary team and may provide
support. Therefore, amity hospice volunteers must receive orientation
and training that is consistent with hospice industry standards.
Amity Hospice volunteers are required to:
-
Undergo a legal background check
-
Complete a mandatory on-the spot drug test
-
Receive a TB shot by an Amity Hospice registered nurse
If you are interested in accommodating a volunteer for your loved one, please contact our volunteer coordinator Deb Johnson at 972-931-5400.
